Tray teeth whitening

” Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful ”

Get a beautiful white smile with tray whitening.

Tray whitening is a quick, safe and effective way to eliminate tooth discolouration and enjoy a beautiful smile. You can perform the treatment yourself at home after visiting the dentist. What’s more important, that you will see the first effects after just a few gel applications.

How does tray whitening work?

The first stage of tray whitening takes place at the dentist’s surgery. We remove accumulated tartar, plaque and make a dental impression to prepare a professional whitening tray, custom-fitted to your teeth. On the next visit, you will receive the tray and a gel-like agent. We also, explain how and how often you should use and apply the gel.

Then you begin home-based treatment, placing the gel into the tray and fitting it on your teeth. Patients mainly use the tray while sleeping, but occasional daily use is also possible. However, everything depends on individual needs.

The treatment usually takes up to two weeks, with the effects often visible after the first application. The overall duration is determined individually during an in-office consultation.

How long does the tooth whitening effect last?

The duration of tray whitening is variable. On average, patients can enjoy the results for about 2 years. But in most cases even after this period their teeth are whiter than before the procedure.

Of course, oral hygiene plays an important role. The beautiful bright colour will last much longer if you follow the dentist’s recommendations.

The first few weeks after the treatment are especially important because tooth enamel is much more prone to discolouration during this period. Patients should avoid strong black coffee, tea, tobacco or coke for a few days after the procedure.

If your teeth are prone to discolouration, the dentist may recommend a reconditioning treatment, which will allow you to enjoy a beautiful smile for longer.

Why do I need to whiten my teeth under a dentist’s supervision?

Patients often ask me whether teeth whitening is safe. The answer is yes — but only as long as it takes place under the supervision of a dentist. Why?

Before proceeding with the treatment it is essential to examine your teeth and gums. Another factor is that effective treatment requires first removing accumulated calculus and plaque, fixing any loose fillings and safeguarding any cavities.

There are many products for unsupervised use available on the market. But such treatment may result in uneven bleaching. Excessive application may lead to a “translucent” colour, which will actually look darker. Patients are also unaware that whitening products do not bleach tooth fillings, and that on untreated cavities can cause pain. I sometimes hear them say, “I lighten my hair myself, so I can do tooth whitening too.” But while your hair will grow back, your teeth won’t!

Whitening is an irreversible process — make sure to do this under the supervision of a dentist.

Which whitening agent should I use?

The choice of the whitening agent is significant. I only choose tested and proven products. I use Opalescence® whitening gels from Ultradent® or Colgate® Max White for tray whitening. These manufacturers are recognised worldwide as pioneers and industry leaders in the field of tooth whitening products. The Opalescence® product has been thoroughly tested and its effectiveness and safety confirmed by a prestigious American Dental Association. The product has all the required approvals.

For years, I have been choosing the best for my patients, which is why I chose Opalescence®.
